Hasanabdal: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mirza Jamil Baig regretted that people kept criticising police for corruption and lack of responsibility but they were least bothered about their challenges and the system they worked in.
He said that policemen were supposed to protect other citizens’ rights but their rights were greatly violated through extra burden of responsibilities, meagre income and long duty hours.
Baig said limited financial and human resources had a negative bearing on the police’s performance.
He urged people to contact police if they spotted suspicious elements in their neighbourhoods. He said people should rent out their houses only after verifying identification of the potential tenants.
