Dear Editor, 

I have searched your site today in the process of searching of 'Pindi Gheb' the town
of my parents who migrated to India in 1947 during partition. Unfortunately, both
are no more. My mother dies barely a year ago. 

Will you kindly help me to search their ancestral house. My father used to say that
they used to live in Thatta Dumel village of Pindi Gheb/ Caimbelpur.

Can you help me to verify these facts because from one site it has come to my notice
that Pindi Gheb is in Attock City.

Kindly help me in my search of my parents birth place.

The Pindigheb area was traditionally a recruiting ground for the British Indian army. The people of this region are considered to be part of the 'martial tribes' as designated by the British. pindighebi soldiers show there bravery in both world wars.  People from this region of Pindigheb have historically looked abroad for employment. During the two world wars many Pindighebians enlisted in the merchant navy and armed services. Like Ashok, I am also tracing roots of my family. My great grand father was a Jamedar in british indian Army and our ancestoral village is Dandi near Pindi Gheb. As i remember from my conversations with my father, we had a big piece of land which was irrigated using water of seven wells. i think the whole area was known as "satt Khui" the land with seven wells.
