He was addressing the PPP workers hailing from Attock at Governor’s House. He said the presidential elections were very important for the solidarity of Pakistan.
He said that the nation was facing multiple problems, so the rulers should
combat these
issues by keeping themselves united. “The country needs comprehensive
planning and wisdom and the PPP leadership has both these qualities,”
he said.
He said that PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, as the president, would be a good omen for the country. “The PPP is the country’s largest party and has representation in all four provinces, therefore, it has the right to nominate its president. It is our wish that Zardari should be elected unopposed.”
He said that he was the first governor who had been appointed with the consent of an elected prime minister. He said, “I don’t know who is circulating rumours regarding my replacement. I am strong and am not going anywhere.”
He also listened to complaints and issued on-the-spot orders. He directed officials concerned regarding free medical treatment of Attock PPP President Sher Afzal Khan.
Attock PPP Vice President Captain (r) Faqir Muhammad Bokhari and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
On Monday night, the governor hosted a dinner in honour of a Chinese youth delegation at Governor House. He told the delegation that Pakistan loved the Chinese people. Taseer also exchanged gifts with the delegation.
