We peasants from west Punjab equally feel grieved over the sad demise of Hurkishan Singh Surjeet. He was a great leader of peasants' movement in the subcontinent after Bhagat Singh. I heard names of Bhagat Singh and Surjeet Singh from my elders who often in villages refer to their boldness and courage for launching crusade against foreign rulers for the rights of peasants, an oppressed class in Indo Pak subcontinent.

 

Surjeet was a freedom fighter who fought for improving the lot of oppressed classes of the society. His death is a great loss to the peasants of this region. Peasants and land of this subcontinent will ever remember his sacrifices and contributions for pioneering and leading peasants' movement.

 

At this occasion we pray for his soul eternal peace and express sympathies to members of the bereaved family.
