ATTOCK: Deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Saturday said the sole motive of theImage movement of the legal fraternity is the independence of judiciary and the restoration of the rule of law.

The chief justice said this while addressing a large gathering of people, including members of the district bar association.

The chief justice was accorded a warm welcome when he arrived in Attock. The deposed CJ urged lawyers to follow the principles of unity, faith and discipline enunciated by Quaid-i-Azam.

He said the whole nation was striving for the supremacy of law and the restoration of the Constitution.

On the occasion, Ali Ahmed Kurd, Muneer A Malik, Justice (retd) Rasheed A Rizvi, Athar Minallah, President District Bar Association Attock Rana Afsar Ali Khan, General Secretary Israr Khan and other lawyer leaders were present.

Chaudhry Iftikhar said a conspiracy was being hatched to divide the lawyers to weaken their movement but added they will remain patient and peaceful.
