Hazro: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police, Nasir Khan Durrani, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi, has placed station house officer (SHO) Hazro and In-charge Police Post Ghourghashti District Attock under suspension and sent to lines on account of Bank Robbery in the area of his jurisdiction, RPO office said.
Nasir Khan Durrani also ordered for registration of case against bank manager, bank guard, SHO Hazro and in-charge Police Post Ghourghashti for their criminal negligence in making proper security arrangements.
On May 29, four gunmen entered the Muslim Commercial Bank, Maskinabad branch, Hazro, and looted cash amounting to Rs2,480,358, four mobile phones sets, Travel Cheques amounting Rs 517,000 after holding the bank staff at gun point. The bank management was repeatedly asked by the district police to make proper security arrangements as envisaged in Shops and Establishment Ord. 1999. The zonal heads of the banks had also assured the district police and the RPO of making proper arrangements but they failed to honour the commitment. The local police also submitted a report in the court against the bank management for making poor arrangements, which is pending for trial.
