ATTOCK: Caretaker Federal Minister for Environment and Local Government Syed Wajid Hussain Bokhari said the sole purpose of visit of President Pervez Musharraf to different countries is to remove misconceptions about Pakistan and to counter the propaganda against it.
While talking to APP here Sunday, he said during the visit President Musharraf will make people and foreign governments aware of the actual situation in Pakistan.
He said the caretaker government will hold the elections according to schedule.
The Minister said the government is going to take strict action against those responsible for the recent attacks.
He said a policy was on the anvil to overcome environmental pollution in Islamabad by shifting stone crushing machines installed in its surroundings.
He informed that Rs. 12 billion have been allocated for the development of forest sector.
During the spring tree plantation campaign 86 million saplings will be planted.
He warned of strict action against those responsible for deforestation.
To a question, Wajid Bokhari said 10 million energy saver bulbs would be provided to public and private sectors at a cost of Rs one billion to help save 500 megawatts of electricity every year.
He said construction of Kalabagh dam was important to the country and a committee has been formed for coordination between the four provinces on this issue.
