Nooul Ain, 22, went missing in January 2004 while living with her husband, Amir Wasim. The missing woman’s parents had lodged a complaint with the New Town police. Police had constituted a team to recover the women, but failed to trace her.
Noorul Ain had been employed at an advertising company and she had also worked as anchorperson in Pakistan Television (PTV). She went missing after three years of marriage.
Noorul Ain’s father, Qamar Abbas, told Daily Times that police could not trace his daughter, leaving him with no option but to move the Supreme Court of Pakistan in February 2007 for his daughter’s recovery.
He said the sacked Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had transferred the case investigation to Attock police and directed Attock District Police Officer (DPO) Tariq Joya to investigate the case. He said Tariq Joya investigated the case and found that Noorul Ain had been murdered by one Amir Wasim and his friend, Zubair.
Talking to reporters on the crime scene, Joya told reporters that accused Zubair was in jail on judicial remand in an abduction case. He said the investigating team scanned Zubair’s mails and found that he had mailed a message to Amir Wasim in which he threatened him with dire consequences for failing to give his money amounting to Rs 25,000.
In order to investigate the motive for the threat, police arrested Zubair and during interrogation he confessed to killing Noorul Ain with the assistance of Amir Wasim in 2004. He also identified the place where they had buried Noorul Ain’s body.
The DPO said the decomposed body of the deceased was recovered from Zubair’s house. He said preliminary investigations showed that the accused first strangulated Noorul Ain and later chopped her body and stuffed body pieces into a bag. He said the accused dug out a hole in the washroom and buried the bag there.
