400 adult literacy centres to be set up in Attock in Pakistan
ATTOCK: At least 400 Adult Literacy Centres (ALC) and Non-formal Literacy Centres would be established in 10 union councils (UCs) of Attock district where 12,000 people would be made literate. Education District Officer Literacy and Information Technology Professor Waris Khan said while talking to newsmen here on Friday. Giving details, EDO said that 200 ALCs would be set up for adults of 15 years and above, where they would get education. In 200 Non-formal Literacy Centres children between five to 14 years of age would be made literate and they would be given all the relevant learning material and other facilities free of cost. He said that for those centres teachers were being employed on contract basis, adding that those centres would start functioning in the first week of April and would be established in different areas.
