Inter-Provincial Under-17 Football Championship: PSB unable to provide first-aid to players
ATTOCK: The absence of medical facilities at the ongoing Inter Provincial Under-17 Football Championship, being played at the Punjab Stadium under the auspices of the Punjab Sports Board (PSB), is creating problems for the participating players.
According to details, Attock’s player Akhlaq was severely injured during a match against Lahore. Ironically, there were no first-aid facilities in the stadium. And after a delay of about half an hour, the injured player was taken to a hospital with the help of the ambulance provided by the Rescue 1122. It is pertinent to mention that the Punjab government has increased funds for the PSB recently but the utilisation of the grant is not visible for the betterment of the players. Sources close to the PSB have said that the Punjab Stadium is being used for private functions as well. “The stadium is constantly being used for the sports days organised by the local schools. Owing to this very reason, the training camps of the national football and hockey teams are badly affected,” sources said.
