ATTOCK: The 14th Convocation of COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) was held hereImage at the institute’s Attock Campus, awarding medals and degrees to the graduating students.

Rector CIIT Dr Syed Muhammad Junaid Zaidi was the chief guest of the ceremony who felicitated the  graduating students and termed their accomplishment as a result of the joined efforts of their teachers and parents. He said that progress of a country could only be achieved by making quality investment in the education sector. At present, COMSATS has several projects in hand for which funds of billions of rupees have been approved by the federal government. An amount of Rs5 billion has been allocated for its Islamabad Campus, Rs450 million for Sahiwal Campus, Rs2 billion for Abbottabad Campus and Rs250 million for Wah Campus. Besides this, another Rs900 million have been approved for its Wah Campus for carrying development works and procuring equipments, etc.

Continuing, Junaid Zaidi observed that the biggest investment by the government could be made in the education sector, adding that the Punjab government has allocated 300 canals of land free of cost to CIIT at its Attock Campus for expanding its buildings, sections and procuring equipments.

The CIIT rector further stated that master planning has been done on the expansion of Attock Campus and Rs472 million have been submitted to the Higher Education Commission in this regard.

Earlier, he awarded medals to the outgoing students including Mohammad Imran of Computer Sciences (gold), Kanwal Shahzadi of Business Administration (gold), Zubair Alam (silver) and Ehtasham ul Mujeeb of Business Administration
