Last evening I was released from Jail on bail. On 5 Nov, in the morning I went to District Courts. When I entered courts premises, I saw police batonImage charging lawyers near bar room. Then there were bursting of tear gas bombs. About two hundred police men were cordoning the courts. I parked my bicycle and moved towards the scene of occurrence. Due to frequent explosions of tear gas bombs, lawyers withdrew into bar room and closed it from inside to escape humiliation and arrest. Rest of the lawyers ran towards their chambers. Police personnel chased them and after breaking doors of chambers got hold of about twenty advocates. They also arrested clients and lawyers' clerks after belaboring them.  Police arrested me too.

We were conveyed on a police van to Police Station Sadar, Mandi Bahauddin where we were put in lock up. Lock up consisted of a small room that was dirty and poorly maintained.  It could hardly accommodate about four to five detainees. At one corner there was a latrine facility having about one and a half feet high wall around. The latrine was stinking and the lock up was full of bed smell. We passed the night awake. Next morning police produced us in court of Judicial Magistrate and obtained physical remand for a day. We were told that a criminal case had been registered against us under section 324, 188, 147, 148 PPC and MPO. The police then took us to Police Station Kuthala Sheikhan for investigation where we spent the second night. Condition of lock up room of this PS was almost the same that of PS Sadar Mandi Bahauddin. Next day police again produced us in the court that sent us to District Jail Mandi Bahauddin on judicial remand where we stayed for five days as under trial prisoners. Despite all types of humiliation and torture, lawyers' morale remained high. There was no sign of sadness or repent on their faces. When they came out of the jail on bail, I found them more determined than before. Their brave conduct showed that lawyer's movement for restoration of independence of judiciary would continue undeterred with more vigor and velour till Gen Musharraf's tyrant rule was over.

Thanks for sharing
I saw the article published in the attocknews, and it's really un-human treatment.

I hope that your people will come to their senses very soon, because the gap between civilization and deterioration of a nation is very narrow.

Thanks for sending me the article and - bon courage !

The most brutalality in the name of demo
People like us who live abroad wonder what had gone wrong drastically with General!!. His actions do not define the norms of civilised, Islamic or democratic behaviour. He has shown his real face and hidden personality. We were hoping that Pakistan is moving towards the stage of civilised nations but the army dictator has shown that we are wrong. Most actions of police under the leadership of Mosharraf are barbaric, uncivlised and non-Islamic.

We pay tribute to the courage of lawyers in Pakistan. They will succeed in establishing an independent judiciary in Pakistan. They must write and publish the treatments given to them by the police as a record and information for the whole nation.
