FATEHJANG: Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Sakhi Mohammad Kahot on Saturday awarded life imprisonment to Mohammad Wajahat, a resident of Fatehjang, for raping and murdering a 10-year-old girl.
Two other accused in the case, Usman and Mohammad Nadeem alias Mawia were released. According to the case, Sadia Bibi, a class five student, was reportedly raped and burnt to death by the accused, who were brothers.
The case was registered in this regard at Fatehjang Police Station under the sections 302, 365-A and 7ATA on September 27, 2006. The police recovered the girl’s body near the office of the Tehsil Municipal Corporation (TMC), Fatehjang, on the information of Mohammad Ramzan, a TMC watchman.
Sadia Bibi’s mother, Rafia Bibi, identified her through her shoes and school bag. Rafia Bibi told the police that after kidnapping her daughter, Wajahat called her to pay Rs 0.2 million as ransom. According to the class teacher Shahzia, Wajahat came to the school and said Sadia’s mother was seriously ill and he wanted to take her home.
