The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday submitted before the Supreme Court a report on sugar crisis, holding politicians as well as sitting ministers and parliamentarians responsible for hoarding of 316,690 metric tons of sugar.According to the report, Humanyun Akhtar, the sitting Federal Minister for Commerce, and his brother Haroon Akhtar, along with their cousin Shamim, were the biggest hoarders of sugar with a consolidated stock of 99,464 metric tons at four sugar mills — Kamalia, Tandliana, Wala Miran and Layyah
Likewise, Minister for Industries and Production Jehangir Tareen remained the third beneficiary who has been nominated as hoarder of 46,920 metric ton sugar. Besides, there are names of Nasrullah Dareshak, Anwer Cheema, MNA, Mian Azhar, Ch Shujaat Hussain, Mian Altaf Saleem, Asif Ali Zardari (Benazir Bhutto’s husband) and Sikandar.

FBI team in Pakistan to probe money laundering scam
LONDON: An FBI team is in Pakistan to investigate an international scam involving some Pakistani cabinet ministers, their relatives, top bankers and the mighty stock brokers of Karachi, who have allegedly made millions of dollars overnight from the recent inside trading scheme of the US.
Meanwhile, sources said, the brother of one of the ministers of state, close to the prime minister, was also being questioned by the FBI. Likewise, some top guns linked to a real estate scheme in Lahore were also being investigated. Likewise, sources said, one of the influential advisors of a provincial chief minister operating in Pakistan on behalf of the rulers of one Arab country was also being questioned.

PML-N asks NAB to disqualify Shujaat, Pervez, Gillani
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) on Saturday asked National Accountability Bureau Chairman Lt General Munir Hafiz to “disqualify” Ch Shujaat Hussain, Ch Pervez Elahi, Syed Iftikhar Gillani and other political leaders who had got their bank loans written off.
In a letter to the NAB chief, the PML-N alleged that PML-QA Vice President Iftikhar Gillani had defaulted on a bank loan worth Rs 6.8 million. It said Ch Shujaat Hussain and Ch Pervez Elahi owed Rs 240 million to the Bankers Equity Limited and National Bank of Pakistan, but had got the amount written off and were therefore ineligible to contest elections.The letter, written by PML-N spokesman Siddiqul Farooq, said names of the three PML-QA leaders had also featured in a list of loan defaulters sent by State Bank of Pakistan’s Deputy Governor AR Chughtai to former NAB chairman Lt General Syed Muhammad Amjad.
However, a large number of people including Ch Shujaat Hussain, Ch Pervez Elahi, Syed Iftikhar Hussain Gillani and others belonging to the PML-QA, Millat Party and Grand National Alliance who support the military regime have been kept off the accountability net despite their offences.”
The letter demanded immediate legal action against all loan defaulters.
Speaking at a press conference later on Saturday, Siddiqul Farooqu said the Representation of the People (Amendment) Ordinance, 2002 specified candidates for the national and provincial assembly seats must submit a declaration that they had not got a loan of Rs 2 million or more written off.
