| Larger bench to hear constitutional petitions against dual office of President today |

The larger Bench of Supreme Court comprising of nine judges headed by Justice Rana Bhagwandas will hear the constitutional petition filed by resident of Attock city Engineer Jameel Ahmad Malik against the Presidential election of General Pervez Musharraf.
The other members of the bench are Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan, Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi, Justice Faqir Muhammad Khokhar, Justice Falak Sher, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan and Justice M. Javed Buttar.
It may be recalled here that the Central Chairman of the Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP), Engineer Jameel Ahmad Malik had challenged the scheduled Presidential Election of General Musharraf in Supreme Court. The Presidential Election is going to be held in between September 15 to October 15 this year.
Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and President Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) Qazi Hussain Ahmed had also challenged the dual office of President General Pervez Musharraf in the Supreme Court.
Qazi Hussain Ahmed filed the Constitutional Petition under Article 84(3) of the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry referred these constitutional petitions to larger bench.
Strict security measures will be taken on the hearing of the petitions. Only registered lawyers and media men having special passes issued by Registrar of Supreme Court will be allowed to enter in the building.
Attorney General of Pakistan Justice Retired Malik Qayyum and Counsels for Federation will represent Government and President Gen Pervez Musharraf in the hearing.
