durrani-iISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Muhammad Ali Durrani has said that the people have completely rejected the “drama politics” of PML-N and a new epoch of dialogue-based politics has taken roots in the country. “The masses have completely rejected the drama politics of the PML-N

leadership who have portrayed the political process as a drama. Due to their act of cheating, the masses rejected their calls on two consecutive days and the PML-N and APDM should learn the writing on the wall,” he told a news conference here Tuesday turning down their calls, the masses have given a clear message that there is no room for immature and emotional politicians as people want economic stability, development, restraint and mature attitudes from the political leadership, the Minister said.

“The politicians should also heed the public sentiments as no one can mislead the masses in the 21 st century,” he said.

“I had informed the media in advance that the APDM is a paper organization and the entire nation saw the fate of its strike call on Tuesday as no major protest was held,” said the Minister.

He said that the people were against the politics of confrontation and creating law and order situation in the country.

“The politics of holding meaningless public gatherings is over with the rejection of the APDM protest call, and all the claims made by the alliance have fallen flat. Now the APDM leadership should get rid of making hollow claims and present an election-agenda to the masses as the electoral process is taking place,” said Minister Durrani.

To a question about Nawaz Sharif’s reported exile to Jeddah, the Minister said that Mian Nawaz Sharif had gone to Saudi Arabia in continuation of his agreement made in the year 2000.

“The PML-N had attempted to create law and order situation in the country which was rejected by the people who ignored their repeated calls.”

“The masses were well aware of their design, expressed maturity and foiled all their efforts by staying away from such negative tactics,” said the Minister.

Referring to the role of Saudi Arabia, the Minister said that Saudi Arabia was the most respected and trusted friend of Pakistan and respecting the friendly states is a golden tradition in international relations.

“We should discuss the matters pertaining to Saudi Arabia with great respect and regard as respect of revered and friendly states falls in the domain of national interests,” he said, adding that Nawaz Sharif himself opted to go to Saudi Arabia of his own free will as he wanted to avoid imprisonment or confinement.

The Minister said that the return of Nawaz Sharif alone was a planned act aimed at winning political mileage.

“The last minute decision of to leave Shahbaz Sharif behind and the arrival of Nawaz Sharif without his family speaks volumes of the fact that this was a calculated effort to achieve political mileage. Sharifs had left the country on their own request in year 2000 and Nawaz Sharif has done it again,” he said.

When the attention of the Minister was drawn towards the media discussion on whether the government violated the apex court orders, Minister Durrani said that no individual or group had the right to give a verdict in this regard. “Respective institutions and not the individuals have the right to take any action. The government has obeyed all the orders of the apex court and it would do so in future,” he said and added that Nawaz Sharif himself had opted to leave for Saudi Arabia.

To a question regarding the reason for making extensive security arrangements on the arrival of Nawaz Sharif, the Minister said that the government had made elaborate security arrangements to avoid any terrorist act.

“The security arrangements were also taken in light of the repeated threats by the PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif to create massive law and order situation and the nation also saw an episode in Attock where the security officials were fired at by miscreants. This is the reason that the people have rejected these politicians,” he said.

When asked about the reported statement of the European Union regarding activities of militants inside Pakistani territory, the Minister said that Pakistani forces had rendered unprecedented sacrifices in the war against terrorism and its contributions could not be ignored.

“Pakistan has adopted a multi-pronged strategy to fight terrorism and extremism. Our forces are operating in the remote areas along borders, we have reinforced intelligence, mega development programmes have been launched, free education to all is being ensured and dialogues are being held to uproot terrorism and extremism. We have done so much and that has never been done before,” he said and added that the Pakistani forces operate anywhere upon receiving information on terrorists.
