Senate body to get involved
ATTOCK: The Senate Standing Committee on Ports and Shipping will go to Karachi to probe the fire that broke out at the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) building on Sunday, the chairperson of the committee told the Upper House.
Senators Rukhsana Zubairi and Ilyas Bilour, speaking on a point of order, asked the Senate Chairman to constitute a special committee to look into the matter. He said the committee was responsible.
Meanwhile, in Karachi, Babar Ghauri held a press conference where he said that the PNSC records are computerised and were on the first floor which remained safeHe said in the past such practice could have been employed by those who had bought Surrey Palace and made all attempts to erase the evidence.
The floors which were burnt, housed the offices of Mega Shipping Company, Attock Cement, Engro, Meezan Bank and other companies. On Sunday, 31 persons including 14 belonging to PNSC out of which eight were security guards, and others belonging to Meezan Bank, Engro, Mega Shipping Company, Warid, Instaphone etc had entered the building between 10 a.m. and 2:10 p.m. Adeel Ansari was the last person to enter at 2:10 p.m. app
