ST ALBANS CC's survival bid has been boosted by the arrival of Pakistan spinner Murtaza Hussain.

The off-break bowler has taken a sackful of wickets for Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City in recent campaigns and has now been lured to Clarence Park until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old made an immediate impact on Saturday, taking a five-wicket haul as City lifted themselves off the bottom of Saracens Herts League Division One with a shock win over leaders Langleybury.

Hussain has taken an impressive 524 first-class wickets in his career, with a best of nine for 54 and in November scored his maiden first-class century with a knock of 117 for Pakistan against Attock Group in Karachi.
