Residents of the people's colony here are concerned due to miserable condition of sanitation and roads. Due to apathy of the local authorities, it seems there is nobody to take care of the civic problems of the British era 's town. People's Colony known for decades as a posh locality of the city, is among those areas waiting for removal of garbage, repair of dilapidated roads and streets. Residents are facing problems due to lack of sanitation and dilapidated condition of roads and streets. The low-income colony was a project of the Punjab housing and physical planning department initiated in early seventies. Later the colony was handed over to the Municipal Committee Attock. Tehsil Municipal Administration and Punjab excise and taxation departments receive huge taxes from the residents. But their performance in provision of basis needs is not up to the mark as they provide no civic amenities. Residents have expressed concern on lack of sanitation and dilapidated condition of roads and streets in the peoples colony and demanded the Nazim to take remedial measures for provision of basic facilities in the area once known as posh one. They complained that choked gutters are releasing filth in almost all streets causing serious problems for school and college going students and elders offering prayers. They said that they had drawn the attention of the TMA and other concerned departments many times, but no one cares the official departments had turned blind eyes towards genuine problems. They have demanded the high-ups of the District and tehsil governments Attock to do something for the repair of dilapidated roads, streets and improvement of sanitation. They hoped their problems would be resolved without any further delay and people paying huge taxes to the local and provincial governments would be relieved from hardship.

I appreciate the excellent writing style of the correspondent and the truthfull statements. He presented the situation as are presented in modern Westren democratic societies.

In Islam it is stated that "Cleanliness is half Iman". Unfortunately, neither the Nazim nor other city administrators ever cared to look into the sanitation of the city or the plight of its residents.
