| All out efforts for development of Attock Distt. |

Major (R) Tahir Sadiq while disclosing the major achievements of last six years as Zila Nazim in the district, said that main focus of him was provision of maximum facilities to the people living in far flung and less developed areas of the district.
He said new roads were constructed, old roads were rehabilitated and widened with the cost of more than Rs. 2.44 billion adding that a total length of these 2948 projects of roads, stands at 1495 km besides allocating Rs. 40 million for Attock city by MPA Syed Ijaz Bukhari from his own grant. He also disclosed that in building department, 624 projects were completed at the cost of Rs. 515.9 million during this period.
Mojor (R) Tahir Sadiq also informed his major achievements in education field and said that he gave top priority to this sector so that people of the area could get quality education and be able to earn good livelihood. He said that during these years dist. government completed 277 schemes with the cost of 375 million rupees including upgradation of 265 schools. Over 2549 educators were recruited to overcome the shortage of teachers besides 18 new schools and five colleges were established. Elaborating other achievements of education field, he said establishment of COMSATS, Institute of Information Technology and College of Education and completion of a poly technical institute became possible due to the untiring efforts which were made by them. Giving details about health sector, he said that six hospitals, five rural health centers and 57 basic health units are working in the district to provide health facilities to the people at their doorsteps. He said the distt. government arranged required doctors at all health centers with the help of Punjab government besides providing medicines.
A modern trauma and cardiac center is being established at DHQ Hospital Attock besides upgradation of THQ hospital Hasanabdal and Pindigheb, he added. Zila Nazim Attock further said that being a barani Area, people of Attock faced sever water shortage in the past which adversely affected their agriculture produce. To overcome this problem district government constructed six small dams at Basal, Jaba, Jalwai, Sahal, Talkina and Thati Syedan at the cost of more than 406 million rupees. Two projects worth Rs. 508 million at Haji Shah and Kot Fetah Khan are in pipeline, he added.
He said, to minimize the severity of drought 102 tubewells, 76 lift pumps, 52 DMG wells and 260 water courses have also been provided to the progressive farmers which costs Rs. 140 million. These measures not only helped in enhancing agri-production in the area but also to overcome the shortage of drinking water to great extent.
The area remained under privileged and under developed in the past but, things started changing in Attock when new local government system was introduced in 2001, he said. Tahir Sadiq said that after assuming the charge of Zila Nazim he gave priority towards education, health, agriculture and infrastructure development.
Zila Nazim Attock further told that now area of priority is the provision of electricity to every village and dhoke of the district. So far 2022 villages were electrified with the cost of Rs. 102 billion.
He said that during these years, his main focus remained towards the development of Attock and he took personal interest for the development of the area so that destiny of the people of Attock could be changed.

06-08-2007 02:01, IP 70.194.101.144, Guest Assalam-ioAlaikum;I left Attock in 1984 and came back in 2001,wasn't that good. Last year I spent two months in Attock city and I really appreciated the face lifting of city and other developments in the city and all around Attock District. Some political people talk about Maj. Tahir,s corruption which I don't belive because all what he has done id visible and non of other gentlemen has ever done anything for the people of Attock but maintained the statisco,which suits people like amin aslam,shuja khanzada etc. These two families should now leave Attock politics and let the people of Attock live their lives without them because people are fedup with their politics as usual.hipocracy,and fuedalitic attitude.Malik Hakmeen should start praying now and let the young generation work for the country.Sheikh Aftab and Ijaz Buikhary have to prove by doing more than Major Tahir for the development of Attock to stay in the game other wise I don't see them in the future political environment. |
