| Research-oriented edu must for quality education: Senator |

HAZRO: Senator Sardar Mehmood Khan has said that research-oriented and knowledge based education is imperative for the promotion of quality education in the country. This was stated by him while speaking at an annual prize distribution ceremony of Welkin Grammar School. He said that we could not achieve the goals of progress and development unless we get expertise and skill in the fields of Science and Technology saying therefore a special focus was being given on this important field. Senator Sardar Mehmood said the promotion of modern education at mass level was the government's top priority, as it was not only the need of hour but also necessary to meet the future challenges adding that the students are our future, it is our responsibility to provide modern education facilities to them. He commended the efforts and policies of President General Pervez Musharraf for the promotion of education in the country.
Sardar Mehmood Khan said that the government is taking appropriate measures for the overall development of this area as priority was being given to the education sector. He said the education sector reforms programme initiated by the provincial government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Choudhry Pervaiz Elahi is showing remarkable results. Senator Sardar Mehmood Khan said that under this programme free education upto matric and free books upto class one to five are being provided to the students. Commending the outstanding performance of the Welkin Grammar School, he said it is playing an important role in dissemination of quality education in the area. Later Senator Sardar Mehmood Khan and Tehsil Nazim Hazro Raza Khan distributed prizes among the outstanding students and appreciated the performance of teachers of the institution. Tehsil Nazim Hazro, Raza Khan and Principal Khalid Khan and elites of the area were also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, the principal Khalid Khan of Welkin Grammar School in his welcome address presented the annual report of curricula and extra curricula activities of the institution.
