ATTOCK: Residents of Sulemanabad and its adjoining areas have urged from railways authorities to ensure provision of basic facilities at Sulemanabad Railway Station established in 1969, which is about 50 km away from Jand and 30 km away from Attock. The residents of the area told this reporter that this railway station was established in 1969 on their demands. As per the railway authorities requriments the residents of the area built a room(ticket office) on self help basis. As 39 years have elapsed this room is now not worth using. They told that the station had been generating a considerable revenue for Railways. They said that since its establishment only one employee of Railway Department had been running the Railway Station and performing his duties round the clock. They added that the station at present was generating more than Rs 50 thousand income for Pakistan Railways on monthly basis but since its establishment (39 years) Railways Authorities did not bother to build a proper ticketing office, waiting room and could not ensure provision of drinking water and electricity. The residents further said that because of non availability of basic facilities they have to face a lot of difficulties during extreme summer and winter. They demanded from Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Divisional Superintendent Railways (Peshawar Division) to ensure basic facilities at Sulemanabad Railway Station. APP tried contact Divisional Superintendent Railways but he was not available for comments.
