Punjab police accused of harassing people
NOWSHERA: District Nazim Daud Khan Khattak has asked the Punjab police to do away with the Attock Khurd check post within 15 days, otherwise the district council members would besiege the post.
Addressing a news conference here on Sunday, Khattak alleged that Punjab police officials were harassing people of the NWFP despite the fact that the federal government had ordered them to remove the check post.
He said the district council adopted a unanimous resolution seeking end to the check post, while members of the House also staged a walkout to protest the Punjab police’s highhandedness.
He alleged the post was aimed at minting money and nothing else. He demanded of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to take note of the illegal practice. "The check post should be removed immediately, otherwise we would take direct action for which the federal government would be responsible," he threatened.
