KAMRA: Four more F-16 fighter aircraft will join the Pakistan Air Force on
July 28, 2008. For this purpose, a ceremony for handing over of the
planes to the Pakistan Air Force will be held at the PAF Base Mushaf on
Saturday.
The four F-16 planes, which are going to be handed
over to Pakistan in the last week of the current month, have been
upgraded and modified to the extent that they will perform just like
new F-16s.

NEW YORK: Distinguished poet Ahmed Faraz, who is under intensive treatment at a hospital in the US, is in a critical but stable condition, a doctor attending to him said, dismissing the media reports about his death.
Talking to this scribe, Doctor Murtaza Arain said a team of eight doctors, including him, was treating Ahmad Faraz since July 7. Due to his complicated health problems, he is in intensive care unit of the hospital.
However, Surgeon Murtaza Arain said, "The poet is not out of danger". He said Faraz`s son Shibli, who arrived here from Pakistan on Wednesday night, was attending him.
Reacting to the news about his death, the doctor said when he heard the news about his death, he was shocked as he would have been the first to be informed. So, when he called the hospital to verify the news, he was happy to know that Faraz was alive. Doctor Arain declined to divulge the details about Faraz`s illness and asked the people to pray for his recovery and life.

ATTOCK: Rain played havoc in Attock and adjoining areas inflicting heavy losses of property on the people. The heavy rain in the city not only paralysed the routine life of Attockonians but also marred the business of almost all of the Sunday bazaars set up in various areas of the city.
The official monsoon season, which started from July 1, has yet to show any sign of rain in the Sindh’s coastal region, contrary to the forecasts made by the meteorological department. However, meteorologists are still hopeful that the city will receive enough showers to meet the seasonal rain average.
In the first spell, various other major cities and towns in the upcountry received heavy rainfalls including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, Faislabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Mangla and Jhelum.
FATEHJANG: Three persons died and two sustained injuries in a road
accident that took place in the limits of Tarnol police station on
Saturday. According to police, a Rawalpindi-bound van (RIS-3379) coming
from Fateh Jang was hit head-on by a speeding truck (1326-Kohat) near
Benazir Chowk.
As
a result, Muhammad Ali and Hassan Jafer died on the spot, while three
persons, Khurrum, Ikhlaq and Amir received serious injuries and were
shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). However,
Khurrum died at the hospital. The condition of the two other injured
persons is stated to be stable.
The truck has been seized,
however, its driver managed to escape. The bodies of the deceased were
handed over to their families. A case has been registered and

ATTOCK: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Nasir
Khan Durrani on Saturday suspended three sub-inspectors (SIs) and a
head constable of Attock Khurd police.
According to a press
statement, the RPO had directed Attock police to refrain from illegal
checking of private vehicles on Grand Trunk (GT) Road. He suspended SIs
Tariq Mehmood, Muhammad Ali and Sirfaraz Ahmad and Head Constable
Muhammad Altaf, as they were found breaching his directive. staff report
ATTOCK KHURD: River Kabul is in medium floods whereas River Ravi is in low floods, metrological department said.
According
to met office, River Kabul is in medium flood at Naushera whereas as
low flooding is observed in River Ravi at
Baloki. The flow of other
rivers is normal. A monsoon system has entered into Punjab and Kashmir from Arabian Ocean.
