The say what is in a name, the rose smells sweet by whatever name you call it. Then I say why they changed the name of my dear Campbellpur to Attock City and that too with such a nasty Anglicised spelling. Why not write it simply as 'Atak', which is the historical name of the city as per my post in another forum titled 'When Kabul comes to Attock' on the site 'All things Pakistan' as reproduced hereunder:

I wonder why the original name of ‘Atak’ was not adopted instead of Anglicized name ‘Attock’ for the same reason as the name ‘Campbellpur’ was discarded. Or was it actually ‘Attic’, with dictionary meaning:

2. of or characteristic of Athens, esp. ancient Athens, or its people, language, or culture; Athenian”.

It is not intriguing imagining that the army of Alexzandar of Athens might have established this city called by the name ‘Attic’, meaning ‘Athens-waala’, which was corrupted later to ‘Attock’."
