I originate from Attock and am living in the Uk. I like your efforts to set up such a nice website with all the attock's news and articles and want to say congratulations on your successful start in the web journalism.
"Business opportunity in Attock" Written by Administrator, Friday, 17 August 2007, is an informative short piece about Attock's future and available opportuities to set up any new businesses.
All the mention projects would be beneficial for the people of Attock but the Akhori dam project will affect thousands of people very badly.
My native home town village is also in the said dam's purposed area. More than Fifty thousand people of many villages from this area would be dismantled and they are against of the Akhori dam.
I hope the government will consider the problem of these people and with draw the project, which will cause dismantaling of the local people who are living there for so many years, and have their own traditions, values,
cultures and backgrounds.
It is very terrible for the people, that with the construction of this dam they will have to dismantal their homes and leave their land and graves of their forefathers and relatives.
It is a shame living in a non muslim country that to save some trees a road was not built and yet in our country thousands of people will be uprooted, graves will be anhialated and greenery damaged, with out the consent of the concerned people for a dam to be built.<br><br>Post edited by: Ali Hassan, at: 2007/08/21 03:08

Akhori Dam Project is one of the key projects in &quot;Vision 25 Programme&quot; and siting Fedral government, Pujab government and District government Attock are in favour of this dam with out the willingness of the people of this area. Sindh and NWFP province have their reservation at this project. According to an intial study of wapda, for the construction of this dam, they want to aquire 59,200 acres land and 49,300 people would be dismantal (Actual figures will be more than their report) and no figures are about the graves, mosques, schools and shrines etc.

People of this area are totally against of the dam but they should use all available peaceful and effective source to oppose the dam at local levels. Voters should ask to their MPs in forthcoming election that why not they makes any effective efforts to oppose this dam which is a project to destroy the life of this area. People of this area are small land holders but they have a respectable and valueable life since long.
