ATTOCK: The deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry will address a lawyers convention today at Peshawar High Court. All related security arrangements have been completed in the Peshawar city.On the occasion of arrival of the deposed CJ Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry, various political parties are setting up their reception stalls in Peshawar.The lawyers announced to receive Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry in Taxila and Attock as well.All security arrangements have been finalized to welcome the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary at Attock district scheduled to arrive today.During his visit, the deposed CJ will address at District Bar Association (DBA) Attock.All necessary arrangements have been made to provide full security to the deposed CJ, acting DPO Attock Raja Hasan Akhtar said.Meanwhile, the members of DBA vowed to continue struggle for the restoration of deposed judges, rule of law and independence of judiciary in the country.

SANJWAL CANTT: Deposed Chief Justice, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary, will address District Bar, Attock, today.

The necessary arrangements have been completed to welcome the deposed Chief Justice, in Attock.

According to details, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary will visit district bar, Attock today at ten in the morning, where he will address the lawyers of the district bar, Attock.

Sheikh Aftab (image courtesy na.gov.pk)ATTOCK: A three-member Supreme Court (SC) bench on Thursday served notices on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA from NA-57, Attock, Sheikh Aftab and the respective district returning officer (DRO) to appear before it on June 9.

The bench, which consisted of Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Justice Ijazul Hassan and Justice Chaudhry Ejaz Yousaf, issued notices while hearing an election plea by Sheikh Aftab’s rival and former state minister Malik Amin Aslam Khan.{mosimage}

The petitioner’s lawyer Dr Babar Awan maintained that his client had unofficially won the election, but he was later declared unsuccessful in the consolidated results with a margin of 299 votes.

He said that the DRO had stated in the results that 7,000 rejected votes of 24 polling stations of the constituency were missing and Malik Amin Aslam had lost the poll with a margin of 336 votes.

Dr Awan said that his client had not lost the election and the result was rigged. He said that the recounting process under Rule 36 of Electoral Laws was to be conducted for the whole votes, but it didn’t.

FATEHJANG: The judge of an anti-terrorist court (ATC) heard a case against two men allegedly involved in a suicide attack on former prime minister Shaukat Aziz in Adiala Jail here on Tuesday.

The court adjourned the case till June 11.

The Fatehjang Police had registered a case against Maulvi Muhammad Imtiaz and Muhammad Usman in connection with a suicide attack on Shaukat Aziz in 2004.

According to details of the case, Shaukat Aziz was going to attend a public meeting in

Attock during his election campaign. When he reached Fatehjang Road, a suicide attack took place in which many people were killed.

Meanwhile, a retired captain, who had allegedly killed two serving majors of Pakistan Army, was produced before the ATC and the court adjourned the case till June 16.

The Civil Lines Police had registered a case under sections 302, 324 and 7 ATA against Ismael Pervez Minhas for allegedly killing Major Kashif Mehmood and Major Faisal Mehmood in Gulistan Colony in 2007.

ATTOCK: An over-speeding Suzuki car fell into a ravine and as a result the driver and three women died on the spot while three kids of his family were injured.

The injured were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. According to reports the accident took place at GT Road near PAC, Kamra, when the deceased driver could not control the car due to over-speeding.

Another cause of frequent accidents here is the poor planning of the road by the National Highway Authority as they had made this road at more height than its requirement.

ATTOCK: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police have arrested three persons who allegedly kidnapped a man from the limits of Industrial Area police station and later killed him.

The police have also recovered the body of kidnapped person Umer Naeem, 27, son of Altaf Hussain, from Attock.

According to a press statement, Naeem had been kidnapped along with his car (IDG-318) on April 21 when he was coming home after dropping his father at his office in Industrial Area.

When Naeem did not return home his father lodged a case with the Industrial Area police station. On the direction of Acting Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Moeen Masood the case was transferred to CIA police.

CIA police chief Bashir Ahmad Noon constituted a team, which after investigation arrested Raja Muhammad Zafar, resident of Rawalpindi, Lal Gulab, resident of Akora Khattak and Jamseed Nawaz, resident of Attock. During investigation they confessed to kidnapping and killing of Naeem.

On the information provided by the accused, police recovered body of the deceased from a deep ditch in the limits of Jand police station (Attock).

Police after postmortem have handed over the body to his relatives. Police have also obtained three days physical remand of the accused from a local court and further investigation is underway.

FATEH JANG: Police found an abandoned child from a godown here on Monday. The child was handed over to a local resident named Sultan who works as a driver. He will keep the child temporarily until a permanent arrangement is made for the baby.

ATTOCK: Eighteen people were injured, nine seriously, when a Pindi-bound runaway wagon (LRD-8588) mounted the median on Peshawar Road and overturned while overtaking a truck in the limits of Tarnol Police Station on Saturday.

According to police, the wagon heading from Attock was overtaking a truck near EME College when its brakes failed. As a result, it mounted the median and overturned.

The police and Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital and Holy Family Hospital.

Nine injured persons, including two children, were shifted to the Holy Family Hospital due to their critical condition. Their names are Mukhtaran Bibi, 60, Khadeja Bibi, 50, Khalid Khan, 47, Naveed Ahmed, 70, Muhammad Hashim, 70, Sher Zaman (wagon driver), 40, Khalid Ahmed, 27, Imran, 25, and Walayat Shah.

The remaining nine passengers shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital are Fida Hussain, 26, Huma Fida, 20, Asma Fida, 5, Fahad Fida, 3, Haji Muhammad, 36, Sarwar Khan, 60, Rafaqat Hussain, 20, Muhammad Jamil, 27, and Muhammad Tayyab, 47.
 
Wife kills journalist Khalil Malik, commits suicidePDF Print E-mail

ATTOCK: Senior television journalist Khalil Malik was shot dead on Wednesday morning allegedly by his wife, who then reportedly killed herself, police have said.

Personnel of a Rescue 15 team recovered the bodies of Malik and his wife Saira, who was also a television journalist, from their suite at the PHA flats in G-8/4. Police seized a 30-bore pistol. Police said they responded to a phone call from Malik’s servant Obaidur Rehman who reported hearing gunshots from the couple’s bedroom at around 10am.

Rescue 15 Inspector Musarrat Ali Khan said that on reaching the crime scene, the police found the bedroom door locked from the inside. The door was broken down and the bodies were found lying in a pool of blood. Police sources said Malik died of bullet wounds to his chest and Saira died of bullet injuries to her head.
